I Thought They Sent These to Africa!

We have several stores in the Kansas City metro that specialize in freight damaged, overstock and like that merchandise. Sometimes you can get real deals there. Sometimes you find neat unusual stuff there. One day, at the Bargain Factory in Grandview, I found this item. Now as you may recall, the Giants won that game, with a wonderful performance by Eli Manning and his unappreciated band of receivers and a tough defense.

When I get it out out of the wash, I'll add the correct one. Gloat, gloat.

Last John Daly Update

John Daly did not make a charge on Sunday or win the British Open. He shot a 73 to finish 1+, 17 shots behind the winner, Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.

You might find his choice of pants a little...something. There's just something about this, I wouldn't wear these!

More on Mr. Daly

John Daly finished strong with birdies on two of the last three holes, but still had a 74, putting him at even for the tournament and 15 strokes behind the leader.

As you can see, he switched up patterns, opting for these tiger stripes in red and black. Comparatively subdued...

John Daly Update

John Daly shot a 76 to go with his 66 and leave him at -2 for the tournament at the British Open. The weather during the second round was so bad at one point that they actually stopped play while the storm blew over. It does appear that Daly will make the cut for the tournament. His pants? Pretty outrageous, but the black sweater is more subdued, and his lime green cap and shirt match the pants.

Go, John, go!

John Daly's Pants

I've always liked John Daly, and have followed his ups and downs over the years. He has amazing golf talent. He had a nice first round at the British Open. This is him, and yes, that is what he wore.

Daly has a deal with Loudmouth Golf to wear their outrageous pants. This is the outfit that the Norwegian curling team used for the argyle pants they wore in Vancouver.

Hmmm.

Kansas-Missouri Baseball at the K

Kansas played Missouri in baseball at Kauffman Stadium tonight. I must say, the uniform geek in me is checking it out!

Is it my imagination or are both teams wearing white pants? I like #37's look with more socks and less pants. And is the KU infielder wearing white spikes?

I dig the Montreal Expo-ish hats for Kansas--very very neat. I wonder if you can get these retail someplace?

As for the score, Kansas scored one run in the top of the 2nd inning and that was it, winning 1-0.

Girls Basketball Uniforms

The Des Moines Register recently posted a look back on girls high school basketball in the state of Iowa--a 100 picture gallery of girls high school hoops. This is an amazing look back on the styles of uniforms over the years. Hat tip to the Uniwatch Blog. I picked out a couple to have a little fun with...

This photo is from 1978, the year of The Observer's graduation from high school. I have to say these uniforms were considerably more fancy then anything we had going on in Vermont!

This photo from this year's America East women's tourney shows a UVM player getting some pretty good air.
This skirt wearing Iowa high schooler circa 1961, though, had some hops!
